The Whosis Kid
I Need to Write More

I’ve felt creatively handcuffed for a while. Maybe it’s because the fourth Mack Flinn & The Whosis Kid album has been delayed a long while because of some tough, understandable circumstances, or because we’re still in the process of getting Caffrey off the ground. Whatever the reason, song writing has been a little stagnant lately. Mack Flinn ideas are floating about, but I feel weird arranging new Mack Flinn material for the fifth album when the fourth one isn’t completed as of yet. That and it’s hard to schedule time with Scotches to work on new songs, even though we really want to. This trickles into other bands, as well. I never really sit down and arrange a new Bad Case of Big Mouth song. I just wait and see what they’ve brought in, then I make suggestions, add new riffs, help neaten it up, but I never come in and say “Look at this idea I have!”

This isn’t good. While creating music is productive from the standpoint of musical output, it’s also productive from an emotional standpoint. Things have happened since Scotches and I recorded the 4th Mack Flinn album. Things have happened since Caffrey put the material together for its new demo. Things have definitely happened since Bad Case of Big Mouth recorded its demo. But right now, I’m at a loss for the means of conveying any of it.
